When did you start? 30/11/2002
Why did you start?
I was putting on weight and needed to make a change. I didn’t know what to do so when I got a flyer in the mail from Step into Life I put it on the fridge to remind that this was something I could do.
What have you achieved?
I have improved muscle tone, achieved weight loss, feelings of satisfaction after completing a session and I sleep well.
What does Training Club mean to you?
There is the general feeling of personal achievement I have but as a member of such a long standing I feel it’s my responsibility to help and encourage new members as they start their journey and existing members that may be struggling.
How have you stayed motivated?
I always feel there is room for improvement. I want to improve myself all the time. That’s enough for me.
What do you like about Step into Life?
I love the Boxkick sessions. The variety is there and there are always new things being dropped into the mix. It tests my endurance and co-ordination. I did cardio for a long time and became a good runner. I liked the variety of running hills and stair climbs. The toneup sessions are great. They constantly push me out of my comfort zone and help me maintain my strength and muscle tone. I love the mat work and weights.
What would you say to someone thinking about joining Step into Life?
I would say to them don’t be put off that you will not be as good as the rest of the group. You will get better and better as your routine becomes more consistent. I remember when I first started and I was overweight. There was a hill that we had to run up. I struggled to do it and everyone was passing me. I then remember some time later running up that same hill and passing everyone else along the way!
Anyone can do this but you have to start!
