Bliss Out!

With the cooler weather starting to chill our little tootsies, we’re starting to reach for some of our favourite comfort foods. Enter the battle of the ‘winter kilogram creep’ armed with our favourite bliss ball recipes - they’ll satisfy that comfort food craving, without pushing the scales up… and an added bonus: most are packed with some sneaky nutrition too! (Shhh – don’t tell the kids, they’ll never know!)

Salted Caramel Bliss balls

  • 1 cup cashews
  • 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1 scoop of quality protein powder of your choice
  • 15-16 dates
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons raw pepitas
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Pinch of salt
  • Extra coconut for rolling
  1. Blend cashews first in a food processor until they’re small chunks
  2. Add all other ingredients and blend
  3. Roll mixture into small balls and coat in the bowl of coconut
  4. Place on a lined tray and freeze to set

Lemon and Coconut Bliss Balls

  • 2 cups shredded coconut + extra
  • ½ cup almonds
  • 2-3 tbsp honey or rice malt syrup (to taste)
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  1. Blend all ingredients into the food processor for 1 minute
  2. Roll into small balls
  3. Roll in extra coconut
  4. Place on a lined tray and chill in the fridge until firm

Chocolate Almond and Cherry Bliss Balls

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • ½ cup dried cherries
  • 2 cups dates
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  1. Blend almonds first in a food processor until finely chopped
  2. Add the pitted dates, cocoa and salt and process until the mixture is finely chopped. Add cherries and process again until well combined
  3. Roll mixture into small balls
  4. Place on a lined tray and chill in the fridge until firm
